Terrepower, a recycling division of BBB Industries and Ontilit, has opened a solar panel recycling facility in Sparta, Tennessee. The new line enables complete separation of solar panel materials such as aluminum, glass, precious metals, silicon, plastic, and components, allowing for more efficient offloading and reducing environmental waste. The Sparta facility can currently handle up to 16,000 panels per year and aims to scale up recycling efforts significantly in the coming years. Terrepower's goal is to divert solar waste from landfills and utilize waste streams efficiently while complementing existing sustainable manufacturing processes.
